Car flips on its roof in horror crash as firefighters rush to the scene

A motorist escaped with with minor injuries after a car crash ended with one vehicle on its roof.

The smash happened close to Hooley Bridge service station on Rochdale Old Road in Bury on Monday night.

The road was closed while police, firefighters and paramedics went to the scene.

Pictures from the scene showed one of the cars, a silver-coloured saloon, on its roof.

One person was treated at the scene for 'minor injuries'

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) spokesperson said: "At 20:36 on Monday 27 September 2021 two fire engines from Bury and Heywood fire stations and the technical response unit from Ashton fire station responded to a road traffic collision on Rochdale Old Road, Bury.

"The incident involved two vehicles and one casualty was assessed by North West Ambulance Service for minor injuries.

"Firefighters made the scene safe and were in attendance for approximately one hour."

The road was re-opened around 10pm, according to Transport for Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police has been asked for a comment.
