Captain Tom’s daughter puts family home on market for £2.25million

Captain Tom’s daughter has put their family home up for sale after being forced to tear down a spa and pool complex there.

Hannah Ingram-Moore, 53, has listed the seven-bedroom, Grade II Listed 18th-century building in Bedfordshire for £2.25 million.

The 7,812 square-foot property has four bathrooms, almost 2.5 acres of semi-moated gardens and a stand-alone coach house.

But it does not have the controversial £200,000 spa Ms Ingram-Moore built in the garden, as this was ordered to be demolished in a court case last October.

She and her husband Colin had secured permission to build a Captain Tom Foundation – supposedly to store cards and gifts sent by the many people who wanted to pay homage to her late father’s charity fundraising during the Covid pandemic.

But she did not include that this foundation building would also have a sauna, pool, spa, changing rooms, toilets and showers.

Central Bedfordshire’s Council said that the end result was “wholly different to the application”.

Ms Ingram-Moore later told TalkTV’s Piers Morgan that it had been a mistake to apply for permission under the Captain Tom Foundation.

She has also faced backlash for keeping £800,000 of profits from three of Captain Tom’s books.

Captain Tom stole the hearts of the nation when he raised a record-breaking £38.9 million for NHS charities during the country’s first Covid lockdown in April 2020 by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday.

He was knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II before he died at the age of 100 in February 2021.

There is a statue depicting Captain Tom with his walker in the house’s hallway.
