Cantwell back in Rangers training ahead of Viaplay Cup final

Philippe Clement has revealed Todd Cantwell could feature for Rangers in the Viaplay Cup final.

The Ibrox midfielder did not travel to Seville for the win over Real Betis due to a family matter.

However, Clement has confirmed Cantwell trained with his team-mates on Saturday ahead of Sunday's showdown against Aberdeen.

Clement said: "Todd Cantwell trained today so there is a chance he will be there tomorrow."

Scott Wright and Leon King will be back available for selection for the showpiece final, however, Jose Cifuentes will miss out through injury.

Clement added: "Jose Cifuentes will be injured - we are unsure how long for.

"Scott Wright is available, as is Leon King."

With injury issues to contend with, Dujon Sterling stepped into midfield off the bench in Seville and could be asked to play alongside John Lundstram again at Hampden.

Clement commented: "Dujon Sterling is a versatile player, he is a good defender but has good feet and is very physical.

"I was looking for a solution from injuries and sometimes players need to play out of the box - he did this."

On Cantwell, Clement previously outlined: "Todd is not here because of personal circumstances. And he wants to keep it personal. So we respect that.

"The positive thing to say about that is that it’s not something between him or the club, or me or him, it’s family-wise.

"It’s important that if players want to keep things private we are going to keep things private.

"Players are public figures for sure, but they have personal things in life that we need to respect also.

"There is a chance he could be available for Sunday, but it’s not guaranteed.”
