Two suspected drug gang members were killed after a firefight between rival gangs in Mexico, authorities have confirmed.
Tonight, reports emerged of armed men storming the Hyatt Ziva Riviera resort in Cancún before escaping on a boat.
Guests said they were forced to hide in their rooms and other areas of the hotel while an active shooter fired at the Hyatt Ziva Riviera resort in Puerto Morelos, south of Cancún.
The security secretariat for the surrounding Quintana Roo state said on Twitter that no tourists were injured or kidnapped in the incident.
The authority tweeted: "The @FGEQuintanaRoo reports that there was a confrontation between members of antagonistic groups of drug dealers on a beach in Bahía Petempich, Puerto Morelos.
"Two of them lost their lives at the scene. There are no serious injuries."

According to Mexican media, men armed with "long guns" entered the hotel through the beach area with the intention of killing a person.
Some guests said they ran away from beaches and swimming pools before hiding with members of staff inside the hotel.
Clips posted on social media show guests and staff hugging while they awaited security instructions.
Paramedics and police attended the scene, with the Mexican Army pictured outside the resort.
Officers have been seen patrolling the beach after the shooting.
Mexico's state government reported two suspected drug gang members were killed after a firefight broke out.
Staff at the hotel told guests - who were then asked to gather in the lobby - that the shooter had been apprehended, NBC Universal executive Mike Sington tweeted.

When reports of a shooting began emerging, a worried man whose partner is staying at the hotel wrote on Twitter : "I am on call with the U.S. Embassy. If anyone can help, my husband and several others are at the Hyatt Ziva in Cancun.
"Men with guns stormed the beach and started shooting. Please spread the word and get help on this. I have no idea what to do..."
In a separate tweet, he said of his partner: "He called me and men with machine guns stormed the beach. He is hiding in a room, but has no idea what to do. I don't know what to do."
Another guest posted: "We are staying here and it seems that it was some kind of attack in the main pool, with people entering from the beach. We are all in hiding, not knowing anything."
A person staying at nearby Azul hotel said: "There was mass panic to start with as people were unsure what was actually happening.
"People were standing on each other to get out of the pool. People were running into the hotel screaming but it soon calmed down. It’s now just a waiting game."
The shooting happened a couple of weeks after two tourists were killed during a shootout between suspected gang members at another beach.
