Canberra breakfast radio host Kristen Davidson made a surprise return to air on Tuesday morning to announce the birth of her son, Hugo.

Mix 106.3 breakfast hosts Nige Johnson and Tamara Strachan, filling in for Ms Davidson while she is on maternity leave, took a call from a mystery caller on Tuesday, with an exciting announcement.

"I'm ringing to let you know that you're an aunt and an uncle," Ms Davidson said on air.

Hugo Fox Davidson arrived last Wednesday, and Ms Davidson said she overwhelmed with "all the feels".

"We're completely sleep deprived," she said.

"We came home yesterday and Hugo stayed up until 4am this morning.

The early-morning radio host thought she would be immune to a baby's erratic sleeping schedule, but said that wasn't the case.

"I actually thought because of our body clocks, on the sleep deprivation, I thought 'no I've go this'," she said.

"No, you don't."

"I like to choose to think it was because Hugo was just really enjoying the house ... so wanting to go for a walk in every single room today."
