Canadian IT giant opens new Edinburgh base after £6m investment

Canadian IT firm CGI has officially opened its new Edinburgh office after moving to the city centre.

The company has switched to its new 9,529 sq ft on the entire third floor of 81 George Street from its previous base on the outskirts at Edinburgh Park. CGI has invested £6 million in the new office where it has a 10-year lease.

CGI employs just over 500 people in Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Borders, and there is capacity for 250 more at the new office was opened by Edinburgh Council leader Adam McVey .

Lindsay McGranaghan, the group's newly appointed business unit leader in Scotland, said: “This move shows CGI’s commitment to Edinburgh and to Scotland. The Scottish capital is a key component in our drive to make Scotland a core part of CGI’s global business and we are gearing up to expand our dedicated and hard-working team. Our Edinburgh members also love our new workspace, it is bright, airy and is a joy to work in. We are so happy with our move.”

Tara McGeehan, president of CGI’s UK operations, said: “Our Edinburgh office represents a significant investment in our Scotland Business Unit. It highlights CGI’s determination to grow its presence further in the Scottish capital and beyond.”
