Can you really repair damaged hair with one wash? I tried Rita Ora's TYPEBEA damage repair kit to find out

If your hair’s been through years of dye jobs, heat styling, and general neglect, chances are you’ve been promised “miracle” repair more times than you can count.

So, when I heard that TYPEBEA, the performance-led haircare brand co-founded by Rita Ora and Anna Lahey, had launched a four-step Repair Range that may just rebuild damaged hair after one use, I was intrigued.

The brand already has a cult following thanks to its G•1 Overnight Boosting Peptide Serum, the best-selling hair growth serum at Sephora, which focuses on strengthening hair from the scalp. The new Repair Range, however, targets the other end of the problem: damaged strands and split ends.

It’s powered by RDS Bond Technology – a blend of hydrolysed keratin (91 per cent homologous to human hair), encapsulated antioxidants, and banana, pineapple and cacao extracts — designed to rebuild, defend and shine. In short: repair the bonds inside your hair, protect them, and make them look glossy without stiffness.

That’s the science bit. But does it feel luxurious, and more importantly, does it work? Here’s what happened when I tried the full four-step routine.

Step 1: The Pre-Wash Mask (R·1)

I’ll admit, the R·1 Pre-Wash Damage Repair Mask (£26) threw me at first. It’s not thick or gloopy like your typical hair mask. In fact, it feels almost too light; the texture made me second-guess whether I was using enough. It doesn’t lather, and while I probably wasn’t meant to, I found myself massaging it into my temples anyway.

After 20 minutes, I rinsed it out and was immediately struck by how soft my hair felt. Somehow, that delicate-feeling mask had coated my strands in a way that felt smooth but not slippery, which is a small miracle, considering how brittle my hair usually feels post-colour (I had it tinted recently).

Step 2 & 3: Shampoo and Conditioner (R·2 & R·3)

The packaging deserves a special mention. Sleek, simple, and with clever twist-top lids that make washing less of a faff (and less slippery). The R·2 Damage Repair Shampoo (£23) left my hair feeling squeaky clean, in a way that reminded me of a post-salon rinse. Almost too clean, actually — that telltale feeling where your hair has zero residue left on it. I liked the lack of strong fragrance too; it made the routine feel more professional-grade.

Thankfully, the R·3 Damage Repair Conditioner (£23) brought the moisture right back. It has that silky, lightweight texture that detangles instantly without weighing curls down. It’s the kind of conditioner that makes your hair feel like silk even before you’ve dried it.

Step 4: The Hero Leave-In (R·4)

The R·4 Intense Repair Leave-In Treatment (£43) is the star of the show — and the product TYPEBEA claims can rebuild bonds in just three minutes. It’s meant to replace conditioner altogether, but I still used both (my hair likes extra hydration). After towel-drying, I worked a few pumps through from root to tip and combed it through.

Once dry, the difference was immediate: my hair felt smoother, more tamed, and less prone to frizz, even though I’m terrible at using silk pillowcases or protective hairstyles. I can’t claim my hair looked “virgin” again, but it definitely looked like it had its act together.

What I like most about TYPEBEA’s Repair Range is how realistic its promises are. It won’t give you red carpet hair overnight, but it will leave behind stronger, shinier, more manageable strands that look like they belong to someone who has their life together.

As someone who’d describe themselves as a bit of a “Type B” personality (lazy with haircare, allergic to complicated routines), the four-step system feels doable. It’s simple, effective, and surprisingly fuss-free - proof that even the most disorganised can achieve glossy, healthy-hair results.

TYPEBEA Damage Repair Kit

Co-founded by Rita Ora and beauty entrepreneur Anna Lahey, TYPEBEA’s new Repair Range is designed to revive and care for the most overworked hair.

The four-step system - a pre-wash mask, shampoo, conditioner and the hero R·4 Intense Repair Leave-In Treatment - uses RDS Bond Technology to rebuild and protect strands from the inside out.

A blend of hydrolysed keratin, antioxidants and banana, pineapple and cacao extracts targets breakage, dryness and dullness without weighing hair down. Clinically proven to deliver up to 80 per cent less breakage and 37 per cent more shine after one use, TYPEBEA helps restore hair close to its natural state - giving you smoother, stronger, shinier strands quickly.
