Can Ozempic face be fixed naturally? Easy ways to avoid skin sagging

'Ozempic face', one of the after-effects of the popular weight loss jab, can dampen your post weight loss enthusiasm. Many people on the GLP-1 medications experience rapid fat loss which can show up on the face and give it an unpleasant appearance. Hollow cheeks, wrinkles on face, sunken eyes, and sagging jowls around the jaw and neck could be seen on an 'Ozempic face', as per Harvard Health. Experts say these changes on the face are not visible with gradual weight loss.

The term Ozempic face was coined by New York dermatologist Dr Paul Frank who noticed that his patients on weight-loss medications complained about their gaunt, sagging faces. These side effects are seen with other GLP-1 medications too and not just Ozempic.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that less than 10% of patients who received Ozempic experienced effects on skin.

Here are some ways to naturally fix skin sagging and appearance of wrinkles in your face:

Drink 1–2 liters of water every dayFor a healthy and glowing skin, hydration plays an important role. Water is essential for skin function, helping maintain elasticity, barrier protection, and moisture balance. According to a study published in journal Cosmetics, the outermost skin layer, the stratum corneum, contains proteins and lipids that form a protective barrier, preventing excessive water loss. Daily intake of sufficient water helps improve skin quality and elasticity, and can improve the facial appearance post fat loss.

Eat a protein-rich dietProtein has essential amino acids that are the building blocks of collagen and elastin, which can help maintain a firm and youthful skin. A protein-rich diet can help combat Ozempic face by supporting skin elasticity, muscle tone, and collagen production. Foods like lean meats, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes, and nuts supply essential nutrients that promote tissue repair and prevent skin thinning.

Face YogaFace Yoga is known to improve the appearance of your facial structure and improve elasticity of your face. It may help to lift and firm the muscles under the skin, which can smoothen lines and wrinkles. Facial massages can help boost circulation, improve lymphatic drainage, and release tension. However, more research is needed to establish the efficacy of this practice for skin health.

Lifestyle modifications to maintain a healthy weightA gradual weight loss along with other lifestyle modifications like proper hydration, a balanced diet with protein, healthy fats, and other essential nutrients can help you avoid Ozempic face.

Apart from these natural changes, skincare and medical treatments like fillers or skin-tightening procedures can improve facial appearance.
