Can Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool repeat history with six of the best?

What price the Reds to repeat history? A staggering 10/1, that's what!

Liverpool based Thepools.com is offering an exclusive 10/1 for the Reds to win their first six games of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side achieved that feat last season beating West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

The odds are significantly higher than thepool.com’s offer for title-rivals Man City to achieve the same feat and the European champions, arguably, have a more challenging set of fixtures.

Check out the Reds opening six fixtures.

Norwich City (H)

The title contenders versus the newboys in town.

Norwich City achieved promotion as Championship champions with a strong ideology under the guidance of Daniel Farke.

Fellow German Jurgen Klopp will be excited at the prospect of coming up against a former Borussia Dortmund coach who also follows a similar style of play.

The match has the potential to play open, expansive and end to end football but will it be VVD, Henderson and Firmino celebrating with all three points?

Southampton (A)

Liverpool played the Saints in their first six matches last season with a convincing 3-0 win at Anfield.

Since then, the south coast club have a new manager in Ralph Hassenhuttl and will be hoping for a strong start in the Austrian’s first full season.

Last season, Liverpool did the double over Saints for the first time since the 2014/15 season.

Mo Salah scored in both games and will no doubt be instrumental again.

Arsenal (H)

A fixture that is almost guaranteed to be a goalfest.

In their last seven meetings there have been 35 goals, including a 5-1 romp the last time the Gunners visited Anfield.

A Roberto Firmino hat-trick along with goals from Sadio Mane and Mo Salah gave Klopp a late Christmas present just before the turn of the New Year.

With Arsenal looking weaker and weaker in defence now that Laurent Koscielny has left the club for Bordeaux, it will be some turnaround from Unai Emery to bring in a solid defensive display against one of the league’s most exciting and attacking sides.

Burnley (A)

Another strong performance at Turf Moor will do nicely for The Reds.

Last season’s 3-1 win helped Liverpool on the way to a 100% record over the Christmas and put another twist in the title race.

Burnley have just lost Tom Heaton to Aston Villa and will rely upon Nick Pope and Joe Hart between the sticks.

The Reds have only dropped points once since Burnley’s return to the Premier League under Sean Dyche - a 1-1 draw back in September 2017.

However, the European champions have won nine times since Burnley made their debut in the Premier League back in 2009.

Newcastle (H)

A lot of people are tipping this game to see the return of Salah, Firmino and Mane all to the starting XI.

After Mane’s defeat in the AFCON final while on international duty with Senegal, it looks like Klopp’s favoured three attackers could reunite at Anfield against a Newcastle side without fan favourite Rafa Benitez.

Newcastle look like they will be joining the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion as the favourites to finish in the relegation zone since Steve Bruce’s appointment.

Only time will tell if Bruce and his new signings can gel in time while giving Liverpool a decent contest, but all neutrals will be expecting another Liverpool double this season, starting at Anfield.

Chelsea (A)

The Reds’ second game against a London-based side.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will be looking to place their faith in the youth system following their transfer ban and Maurizio Sarri leaving to join Juventus.

Since Klopp joined the Merseyside club, Chelsea have had SIX different managers at the helm.

The games have always been tight affairs and Stamford Bridge has been a ground where Liverpool have not won in the last two seasons.

If all things go to plan, could Klopp’s Red Men jump over the final hurdle and repeat last season’s impressive start?
