Can Celtic and Rangers non season ticket holders sign up for new streaming service?

The SPFL and Sky Sports announced season ticket holders of Premiership clubs will be able to watch every home game this season with a 'virtual season ticket'.

Scotland's top flight will start next season behind closed doors amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and so the proposed streaming service has been put forward as an alternative for fans.

Celtic and Rangers have confirmed their involvement, but have still to release the specific details about how it will operate.

But one thing we do know that the service will not be available to non season ticket holders.

Supporters were hopeful the unprecedented circumstances would give them the unique chance to watch their side's home games, while also helping the club bring in some additional revenue during these difficult times.

But Celtic's statement suggests this will not be a viable option.

It read: "The only way to guarantee access to every kick of the ball from Celtic Park will be through the Celtic season ticket."

And it seems this will be the case for Rangers too and every other Premiership side.

The reason behind this is because Sky Sports are capping subscribers at the level of season ticket holders clubs had for the 2019/20 season, reports The Guardian's Ewan Murray.

Rangers are set to release more information tonight while Celtic will provide more details within the next 24-48 hours.
