Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall tests positive for Covid

The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for coronavirus, Clarence House has announced.

It comes just days after her husband the Prince of Wales announced a positive test for the second time during the pandemic.

A Clarence House spokesman said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating.

“We continue to follow government guidelines.”

Camilla, 74, has had three doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, according to sources.

The duchess carried out a number of engagements last Thursday – the day Charles tested positive.

She described herself as “luckily” negative the same day, saying of her testing regime during a visit to Thames Valley Partnership in Buckinghamshire: “I’ve taken it so many times”.

It comes amid concern for the Queen’s health after it emerged the monarch had been in direct contact with her eldest son Charles just two days before he tested positive.

Buckingham Palace said on Thursday that the Queen was not displaying any symptoms, but refused to confirm whether she had tested positive or negative, citing medical privacy.

The 95-year-old spent time with Charles last Tuesday when the prince was carrying out an investiture on her behalf at her Windsor Castle home.

The Queen used her jubilee milestone to endorse Camilla to be one day known as Queen Consort, and called on the public to back her and Charles when he becomes king.

During one of her engagements last Thursday, Camilla said she was “very honoured” to have been endorsed as a future Queen Consort.

While on a tour of a west London community kitchen, Camilla was asked by a visitor how she felt about the title.

The duchess replied: “I feel very honoured – very honoured and very touched.”

Camilla was visiting the Nourish Hub kitchen in Notting Hill, west London, to mark its opening as the royal patron of Harvest UK, the charity which runs it.
