Cameron Harper completes Celtic transfer exit as teenager knocks back new deal for MLS move

Starlet Cameron Harper has turned down an offer to stay at Celtic and completed his move to the New York Red Bulls.

Harper moved to Glasgow's east end from Pateadores SC in 2018, after being scouted by Tommy Burns ’s son, Jonny, and was tipped for big things.

The 19-year-old American forward made one first-team appearance for the Hoops, which came back in January this year in a 1-1 draw against Hibs.

He told the club website he was "grateful" for the offer of a new deal at Parkhead but was keen for a return to his homeland.

Harper said on the move to Major League Soccer: “I have really enjoyed my time at Celtic, it has been a great experience, of course I’m very grateful for the offer made to me by Celtic too, but I wanted to go back to the US and take this new opportunity.

"Of course, it goes without saying, I wish Celtic nothing but success for the future."
