Cam Newton breaks his vegan diet for this game day meal

For the New England Patriots’ game days, quarterback Cam Newton breaks out his sharpest outfits — and he breaks his vegan diet.

During a weekly appearance on WEEI sports radio on Tuesday, Newton admitted his classic game day meal is actually more along the lines of vegetarian than his otherwise vegan diet.

“Eggs, spinach — that’s probably one of the few days where I’ll incorporate eggs for the protein,” Newton told WEEI. “Obviously, I’m vegan, but everything is kind of sourced for trying to get your body to be at its peak performance come game time.”

So, technically, Newton’s diet is only kind of vegan — which basically means he’s just a vegetarian. To be more specific, he’s an ovo-vegetarian. That meal isn’t the only piece of the quarterback’s game day routine. Newton is also into meditation and lucid dream.

“Trying to manifest things. You’ve got to kind of tap into that side and kind of see yourself winning, and if you know that side of you, then nothing else can pretty much affect you,” Newton said. “It’s just up to you to paint your own canvas.”
