Calvin Ramsay scores again as Liverpool under-21s win at West Ham

Summer signing Calvin Ramsay scored his second goal for Liverpool under-21s as they won 3-0 at West Ham earlier today.

Ramsay capped off the scoring three minutes after the half-time break, following first-half goals from Jake Cain and Melkamu Frauendorf.

The result - their third win on the bounce - takes Barry Lewtas' Reds up to third in Premier League 2, level on 19 points with three other sides at the top.

Teenage full-back Ramsay is yet to feature for the first-team since joining from Aberdeen over the summer due to a back injury picked up during the medical.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the 19-year-old would step up his rehabilitation with a few matches for the under-21s, and he bagged a goal on his debut in the 3-2 Papa John's Trophy defeat at Accrington Stanley earlier this month, coming on as a late substitute.

The young Scot stepped up his recovery again today, starting in the win at the Rush Green Stadium and managing just over an hour.

Liverpool dominated much of the game down in London, with Lewtas able to include the likes of Stefan Bajcetic and Bobby Clark in a strong lineup thanks to an easing of injury woes in the first-team. Cain opened the scoring inside 22 minutes, with German midfielder Frauendorf doubling the away side's lead less than 15 minutes later.

Ramsay made it three on 48 minutes and the Reds were able to ride out the remainder of the second-half with relative ease.

They host Fulham under-21s next weekend and could climb to the top of the league, if results elsewhere go their way.
