Callum Wilson responds to Man Utd transfer interest after emerging as target

Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson has insisted he is only focused on the Cherries amid speculation linking him with a January move to Manchester United .

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to be targeting a new striker when the transfer window re-opens and Wilson, who has scored five goals so far this season, is one of those he is thought to be interested in.

But speaking to versus.uk.com the England international said he doesn't listen to the rumours.

"I usually find out by people reading stuff and coming up to me!" he said.

"I'm just kind of like 'you know as much as me'. I don't really listen to it. I don't read papers and I don't read Twitter feeds about transfer rumours. I tend to just focus on myself.

"I've just signed a contract at Bournemouth so I'm committed there. I try not to let anything like that affect my game."

Wilson went from playing non league football for Tamworth to Bournemouth in 2014 and has since been a revelation, with last season's return of 14 goals his best Premier League tally so far.

If United cannot tempt Wilson to Old Trafford they are also thought to be keeping an eye on the likes of Mario Mandzukic of Juventus or Lyon's Moussa Dembele.

Wilson will be hoping to get back on the scoresheet when the Cherries host Wolves on Saturday, with his last goal coming at the end of September in the 2-2 draw with West Ham .

United, meanwhile, will look to continue their recent upturn in form when they travel to Premier League surprise package Sheffield United on Sunday.

Their leading scorer Marcus Rashford recently insisted Solskjaer was the correct man for the job despite his job being under pressure at the start of the season.

"Ole is a great guy and he has the club's interests at heart so there’s not a better person for the job in my opinion," he said.
