Callum McGregor injury rocks Celtic ahead of Real Betis clash as Liel Abada also set to miss out

Celtic have been rocked by the news captain Callum McGregor will miss their European clash at Real Betis tomorrow night.

The Hoops skipper will sit out of the Europa League Group G opener and will be joined on the sidelines by Israeli winger Liel Abada.

However, there is better news with Anthony Ralston, as Parkhead gaffer Ange Postecoglou issued an injury update ahead of their trip to Seville.

The right back missed out on the 3-0 victory over Ross County at the weekend but comes back into Celtic's plans for Spain.

Postecoglou revealed: "Cal's got a bit of a knock so he'll miss out. It's not great for us because he's obviously a very influential player for us.

"Anthony Ralston is back so we'll get him back involved. Liel Abada will miss out because of Yom Kippur, which is obviously a significant religious day for him."

Regarding other team news, Postecoglou aded: "Anthony Ralston is back so we'll get him back involved. Liel Abada will miss out because of Yom Kippur, which is obviously a significant religious day for him."

The Bhoys will hope to have midfield magnate McGregor back for Sunday's Premiership clash at Livingston.

However, Abada should be available selection for what's always a tricky trip to West Lothian after Postecoglou cited religious reasons for his absence in Seville tomorrow evening.

Celtic travel to Spain hoping to get their first win in the country, having lost 16 of their previous 19 games on Spanish soil.
