A community living on a ‘dangerous’ road have called for action after a series of traffic incidents. People on Carlton Hill said they feel ‘in danger’ amid concerns over speeding and rushed pedestrians.
Neighbours have voiced their fears after waking up to find their local bus shelter 'completely destroyed' following an incident late at night. Neighbours on Carlton Hill have labelled the street "dangerous" after the incident which allegedly happened at around midnight on Friday (June 17). It was followed by another incident on Monday afternoon (June 20) where emergency services were called on the top of the hill.
Plam Ignadov, who runs BG Bakery on Carlton Hill, added: “I would say that this part of the street is relatively okay because there are many shops and people tend to pay attention. Down the road cars are speeding most of the time.”
The 40-year-old added: “Two serious incidents happening in less than a week is too many. It is ridiculous and dangerous - something must be done about it.”
Antonio Labatte, who runs the Primo venue on Carlton Hill, added: "I do not think there is anything that we could do. They cannot put speed bumps around here because it is a main road.
"It is very busy and obviously it puts pedestrians' lives in danger, judging by the latest two incidents. We need something, and we need more police around here."
The 55-year-old, also living in Carlton, added: "In the morning and peak times it is very busy. I do not think there is a lot that can be done."
Marco Labatte, who runs the venue with his dad, 26, agreed, adding: "It is fairly busy - I think that is the main problem. People rushing into the city because it is the main road.
"It gets very congested, so that would be a problem."
Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire County Council have been approached for comment.
