Cadbury axes iconic Easter treat in a move which has left fans 'fuming'

Mondelez-owned chocolate company, Cadbury, has decided to scrap a classic Easter treat - and it's left some fans completely furious.

The leading confectionary giant has decided to axe the Dairy Milk Egg 'n' Spoon cartons, in a move that is said to reflect 'changing taste buds' across the United Kingdom.

And the recent decision means that the cult classic is now no longer available to purchase, with those hopeful of bagging a box this Easter left completely disheartened.

The Mirror reports that the popular chocolate goodies came inside a purple egg box, which contained four Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate eggs, filled with a bubbly chocolate mousse. The box set also contained two purple spoons.

Speaking about the change, a Mondelez International spokesperson said: "We’re always listening to our Cadbury fans to ensure our Easter range includes their favourites and reflects their changing tastebuds. We’ve made a few changes to reflect this and think our 2023 line-up is egg-cellent, even if we do say so ourselves!"

Fans of the Easter egg have branded the move a "crime" as it means the Egg 'n' Spoon's will not be available in supermarkets. After the news broke, Cadbury fans reacted to it on TikTok, after a user posted a video which hinted that the chocolate is gone for good.

One person said: "This is an absolute crime. Cadbury's bring them back," while another, added: "Please bring back the egg and spoon chocolates!! I seriously crave these every day and can’t understand why you would discontinue your best chocolates :(".

Someone else wrote: "I've literally been looking everywhere for them because I love them so much and now it makes sense why I can't find them," while a fourth put: "Why?? They were incredible! I noticed the chocolate one wasn’t out last year only the Oreo one."

One more penned: "Omg I am fuming, they are my favourite," while another went on: "Please tell me you're joking."

The Egg 'n' Spoon cartons were first launched in the UK in 2013. Last year, Cadbury released Oreo-based Egg 'n' Spoon chocolate eggs which contained a Oreo chocolate mousse with crunchy pieces.
