Busy weekend for Scots RNLI team as volunteers respond to three callouts over two days

A Scots RNLI crew responded to three incidents in two days during an extremely busy period for volunteers as thousands of Scots took to the coast to enjoy the warm weather.

The team at Anstruther, Fife, were called to Elie after a female phoned the UK coastguard on Friday morning when she fell on the notorious Chain Walk.

She was transferred Ellie Harbour so paramedics could assess her.

A vessel then got into difficulty near to the May Island at 12.42pm on Saturday.

The crew launched their inshore lifeboat and safely assisted the vessel back to Anstruther harbour.

While washing down the boat and kit, both lifeboats were immediately tasked to a female walker with a suspected broken leg near to Fife Ness.

Arriving first, the crew aboard the inshore lifeboat administered casualty care before passing the lady into the safe hands of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Now the charity is urging costal visitors to take care and plan ahead as restrictions ease and the good weather continues.

RNLI Media Officer for Scotland, Martin Macnamara, said: "Accidents at the coast will happen.

"It is important that you have a means to call for help should it happen to you. If you get into difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
