Busy Ayrshire road closed in both directions after man struck by lorry

A busy Ayrshire main road has been closed in both directions after a man was struck by a lorry.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the serious crash on Ayr Road in Prestwick this morning.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were all scrambled to the scene near to the Bellrock pub at Prestwick Toll.

Pictures show an HGV parked on Pleasantfield Road next to a blue tent.

The closure has impacted bus services with Service 4 heading to Kilmarnock not able to go through Prestwick due to the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.25am on Friday, September 9, police were called to a report of a man struck by a vehicle on Ayr Road, Prestwick.

"Officers are at the scene dealing with this serious crash and the road is currently closed."
