Business Brief (June 10): China Reaffirms Curbs on Dual-Use Exports to Japan

During a press conference Tuesday, a reporter asked about a report saying that the U.S. had asked China to resume rare earth exports to Japan. Lin Jian, a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, said China bars exports of dual-use items to Japanese military users or for military purposes in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations, citing concerns over what Beijing describes as Japan’s “re-militarization” and pursuit of nuclear weapons.
