An out-of-control bushfire on the southern coast of Western Australia has been downgraded after tourists were evacuated from the area.
A watch and act alert was issued on Monday for people near Albany on the Vancouver Peninsula, north of Shoal Bay Retreat.
"If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now," a Department of Fire and Emergency Services warning said.
The unpredictable blaze, near the town's historic whaling station, continues to move fast in a northwesterly direction.
The alert level for this fire was downgraded from the emergency level after people in the area were evacuated from nearby Camp Quaranup.
The former quarantine station, on a bushland nature reserve, operates as a camp for tourists visiting the area and can accommodate about 160 people.
