Bus driver remains in Queen's Medical Centre with 'serious injuries' after crash

A bus driver is in Queen's Medical Centre with "serious injuries" after a crash with a coach.

The driver of the Arriva double-decker bus was taken to hospital following the crash which happened in Ashby Road in Loughborough at around 6pm on Saturday, April 27.

Pictures show the extent of the damage to the double-decker, with the front of the vehicle almost completely destroyed.

Leicestershire Live reported several passengers were injured in the collision, which were only believed to be minor, and another passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the coach was not injured and the closure of Snells Nook Lane to Hollywell Way and the Old Ashby Road from Schofield Road to the A512 was lifted at around 2am on April 28.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "The bus driver was taken to QMC with serious injuries.

"There were several passengers on board the bus. A number of them received minor injuries.

"The coach driver was not injured. There was nobody else on the coach at the time."
