Burst water main sends geyser 25ft into the sky in Knowle

Motorists in Knowle got something of an unexpected car wash when workmen dug through a water main.

People living along Talbot Road reported workers trying to fix a gas leak in the road created a different problem when they dug through a water main.

The incident, near the famous Knowle water tower, sent a geyser of water 25ft into the air for a time, which was captured on camera by local resident Dave Trevor.

He said the gasmen are in that street three or four times a year patching up Knowle’s leaky gas pipes.

The fountain-inducing leak was reportedly still going after two hours.

No one from Bristol Water was available to confirm if any local residents had experienced disruption to their water supply, and the incident was not showing on the company’s ‘In Your Area’ works and incidents map.
