Police fired a taser at a burglar after he raised a knife at officers.
Cheshire Police were responding to reports of a burglary on Rivacre Road, Ellesmere Port on Sunday when they found the man armed with a baseball bat and a knife .
A 27-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and breach of a restraining order.
In a tweet Ellesmere Port Police said: "Response Team officers deployed to Rivacre area for intruders inside a residence. Offender located inside who raised a knife; Officer raised a Taser! Result: one offender Tasered and arrested for aggravated burglary. Justice smarts! #hereforyou"
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police confirmed that a burglary took place at an address on Rivacre Road, explaining a man was armed with a knife and a baseball bat.
She said: "At around 9.25pm on Sunday 14 April officers were called to reports of a burglary at an address on Rivacre Road in Ellesmere Port.

"Officers attended the address and on entering the premises they were approached by a man armed with a knife and baseball bat. A 27-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and breach of a restraining order.
"The man is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries."
