Burger King to create 30 Gloucester jobs at new restaurant in city

Burger King is set to open a new restaurant in Gloucester, creating 30 jobs.

The fast-food chain is set to occupy a unit at the Old Log Pond on Bristol Road, a former CEMEX concrete batching site where seven retail units are being developed.

It will be Burger King’s second restaurant in the city with the other based in the Peel Centre, in St Ann Way, in Gloucester Quays.

Ahead of the opening of its new outlet, the company will hire 25 front-of-house and kitchen roles, and will also be recruiting for seven managerial positions.

The brand, known for the Whopper burger, is set to join bakery chain Greggs in opening a food outlet at the site, which is being developed close to KFC and McDonald’s restaurants off Bristol Road by Warrington-based property firm Foden Estates.

Jeremy Wright, Burger King UK’s people director, said: “During what has been a very challenging year for many businesses, we are delighted to be creating new job and career opportunities in the area, and look forward to welcoming 30 new starters into the Burger King family, at our new Gloucester restaurant.

“We continue to be bold and ambitious in our growth plans across both locations and job opportunities.”

Founded in 1954, Burger King is the world’s second largest hamburger chain with more than 23 restaurants across 100 countries and US territories.
