Bungalow with just two bedrooms and large garage on the market for eye-watering £2m

A bungalow with just two bedrooms has gone on the market for an eyewatering £2m.

The property is 1,204sq ft, meaning each square foot of space will put you back £1,656.

It boasts two bedrooms, a drawing room, dining room, kitchen, main bathroom, utility room, an extra toilet, a cloakroom and a large integral garage.

The freehold bungalow in Wimbledon, south west London, is just a stone’s throw from the area’s famous common and is on the market with Hawes & Co for £1,995,000.

The description goes on: “The perfect house for downsizing, offering light and spacious accommodation on one floor with a secluded rear garden.

“Within 100 yards of Wimbledon Village High Street, offering an eclectic mix of boutiques, specialist food shops, cafes and restaurants.

“Wimbledon Common is just a few minutes walk away whilst Wimbledon Town centre is 10 minute walk.”

Independent estate agent Matt Lanninge, Founder of The Property Expert Group, said bungalows were increasingly popular with people.

He said: “Bungalows are one of the most popular choices, as anyone can live in one from a newborn to the elderly, plus they are often detached with excess land and therefore have significant development potential.

“A simple loft extension can often double the usable floorspace.

“Taking us back a little bit, between 2015 and 2019 there was a large proportion of potential movers fearfully convinced to sit on their hands on the assumption that Brexit was going to have a negative impact on house prices.

“In 2020 and 2021 many of us were asked to start working from home without a home office, were caught out far from family or without outside space, so needed a change and wanted to get moving."

There are currently two on sale in Bromley, south London, for more than £1million.

Another property in nearby Hayes has just gone under offer with the asking price of £1.2m.

One in Birchington, Kent could set a buyer back £2million.
