Bumblebee 1000 will see host of supercars make their way through Fermanagh

Co Fermanagh will take up part of the driving route for a number of supercars which will turn out to raise thousands for a children’s charity this weekend.

The Bumblebee 1000 event will see 60 Porsches, Lambourghinis and more parade through Enniskillen and stop in Kesh on their way to Donegal this Saturday.

The event kicks off in Kildare before making a number of stops throughout Ireland, all to raise funds for Little Blue Heroes, a charity set up by members of an Garda Siochana to help seriously ill children.

One of the event organisers, PJ Harte, says they hope to raise as much as €20,000 from the supercar event.

“We are stopping for lunch at the Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan then we are making our way to Enniskillen and Kesh after that,” PJ said.

“We have around 60 cars at the minute, we have Ferraris, McLarens, Porsche so there will be plenty for people to see.

“This is the third event we have run with Little Blue Heroes and when you see the children’s faces when we pull up it is fantastic.

“Some of these children have a very short life expectancy and it’s great to help them and their families.”

PJ says the parade of cars is hoping to make it to Enniskillen at around 3.30pm on its way to Kesh, and has been delighted with the response the event has had so far from people across Ireland.

“We started this three years ago and there might have been five or six people out waving but last year we had hundreds of people out.

“We’re hoping to go better than that again and it has been great to see so many people get in touch to wish us well.”
