Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin in concussion protocol, did not practice

TAMPA, Fla. _ Another week, another status of a Bucs starting receiver is in limbo.

Chris Godwin is in concussion protocol and did not practice Wednesday, coach Bruce Arians said.

Godwin suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit from Saints safety D.J. Swearinger and left the game late in the fourth quarter. Swearinger and the Saints were penalized for hitting a defenseless receiver.

Arians said Godwin showed no symptoms from the hit after the game on Monday or Tuesday but had some when he came to work on Wednesday and the Bucs placed him in the protocol for precautionary reasons.

Last week, receiver Mike Evans did not practice until Friday and was listed as doubtful due to a hamstring strain, though he did play against the Saints.

Godwin had six catches for 79 yards in the game.
