Brussels sprouts flavoured gin launched by Scottish distillery for Christmas

A Scottish gin company has developed the ideal festive treat for fans of Brussels sprouts.

Edinburgh Based Pickering’s Gin have created the unusual flavour at their Summerhall Distillery - to create the world’s first Brussels sprout gin.

The company used 10,000 Brussels sprouts in their concoction - enough for 2,000 Christmas dinners.

Pickering’s has described the flavour as “a surprisingly sweet, slightly nutty taste with a green, herbaceous and peppery twang.”

Matt Gammell, head distiller and co-founder of the gin company said: “It was an interesting challenge trying to balance the unmistakable flavour of Brussels sprouts to get the taste just right – and the distillery had a very distinct aroma while the gin was being distilled.

"However, we love the end result and it is the ideal tipple for friends and family to share together this Christmas."

The unique drink will come as part of a set of Christmas flavoured baubles from Pickering's Gin (Pickering's Gin /SWNS.COM)

The Brussels sprout infused gin will come as part of Pickering’s Gin baubles of Christmas inspired flavours.

Included in the set will be Christmas Clementine, Festive Cranberry, Spiced Pear and Cinnamon, Figgy Pudding, Plum and Ginger –and love them or loathe them Brussels sprout flavour.

The limited edition six pack of Christmas gins will be available to buy for £25 from Monday, September 2.
