Bruno Fernandes 'not caring' is key to Man Utd success, says Nani

Former Man Utd winger Nani feels his Portuguese compatriot Bruno Fernandes is perfect for the club because of his care-free risk-taking attitude.

Fernandes has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford since his arrival in January and has already racked up 20 goals for United.

His impact on his teammates has been particularly notable, having given the whole club a lift and capturing fans hearts within weeks of joining.

And Nani says he can fully understand why supporters have already gone "crazy" for the midfielder.

“The style of his football is something fans appreciate," Nani told United review .

"He is a player who likes to take risks in the game, who wants to take the responsibility of the game on his back and make difficult passes, dribbles and shots.

“He doesn’t care about mistakes; he only thinks about success and making the team have success. He knows what that takes. That’s Man United, isn’t it?

“All the years of success at the club were achieved with that approach. Every player in the team, from goalkeeper to striker, took risks. We all knew the timing, when we should be calm, but all our games had passion, quality and the freedom to take risks if the result wasn’t coming."

United's win on Tuesday keeps them in command of their Champions League Group H, but with two tricky tests to come, while a win at the weekend could lift them back into the Premier League's top six.

Fernandes got his side off to an ideal start, hammering a spectacular half-volley into the roof of the net after just seven minutes.

After weeks of shifting Fernandes into various roles in his team, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now seems to have found the 26-year-old's best position as attacking midfielder, with Nani predicting there is only more to come.

“Bruno has done so well until now, scoring goals and setting up a lot of goals, but I think he will keep improving and making the team even better.”
