Bruno Fernandes apologises to Manchester United teammate Nathan Bishop after training

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes took to Instagram to apologise to teammate Nathan Bishop after chipping him in training.

Fernandes rapidly became a fans' favourite at Old Trafford after joining the club in January.

Before the suspension of fixtures due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Portugal international had played five league games for the club, scoring two and assisting a further three goals.

Premier League clubs are back in full-contact training ahead of the resumption of fixtures in less than two weeks time.

United will resume their season away to Tottenham on June 19 in a game that could be crucial in the battle to qualify for the Champions League next season.

And Fernandes reminded United fans of his quality as he reposted a clip from a United training session of him lofting a delicate finish over Bishop at Carrington.

The goal was shared on United’s Instagram account and then by Fernandes himself, who also added a message reading “Sorry @nathanbishop30” alongside an emoji.

Ahead of United's trip to Tottenham Fernandes revealed how close he came to joining the London club last summer.

"The first club that was close to signing me was Tottenham," he said on Instagram Live. "With Pochettino…But I don’t know maybe they thought the amount Sporting wanted was too much so in that moment Sporting decide they don’t want to sell.

"Tottenham came in the summer but Manchester [United] was in January. Maybe Tottenham came again in January but when I knew Manchester was interested I just wanted to talk to Manchester.”
