BENGALURU: Amid a controversy over Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet, BBMP has said it will install CCTV cameras at the ground. Right-wing organisations have sought permission to hold Yoga Day, Independence Day and Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav events at the ground, arguing that it belongs to the civic body. However, BBMP had, in 2019, issued a khata for part of the land in the name of a dargah. An official said: “We are installing cameras to ensure safety as the issue appears to have taken a sensitive turn.” tnn
