Bruce Willis’s wife says actor’s ‘language is going’ as he battles dementia

  • Emma Heming Willis has spoken out about her husband Bruce Willis's nearly three-year battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
  • Willis was diagnosed with FTD, a degenerative brain condition affecting communication and behaviour, in February 2023.
  • Heming Willis told ABC News' Diane Sawyer that while her husband remains mobile and in good overall health, his brain is failing, though she still sees glimpses of his old self in “moments”.
  • She said Willis’s “language is going”, but the family has “learned to adapt” to a “different way” of communicating with him.
