Bruce Allen says he knows ‘what the truth is’ about Trent Williams

Most of the public at large is in the dark about what is going on with Washington Redskins LT Trent Williams and his holdout, but the one person who should know, apparently does know.

Redskins team president Bruce Allen told the media on Friday that he is aware of the situation, but refused to delve deeper into the topic.

“I know what Trent told me, so I know what the truth is,” Allen said, via NBC Sports Washington. “I’ll leave my conversation with Trent between the two of us.”

There is a lot of speculation flying around as to why the 30-year-old Pro Bowl left tackle has been absent from mandatory minicamp for the entire week, and a list of potential reasons spanned from the veteran wanting more money, to his being upset with the teams medical staff following a mishandled situation earlier this year.

Whatever the case may be, the Redskins are attempting to do anything they can in order to bring Williams back into the fold. He is one of the best players at his position in the NFL, and without his presence on the front line, there is a lack of talent, to put it nicely.

“Trent has been a valuable player for us and that’s why we signed him to the contract he has,” Allen said. “I’ve talked to Trent a few times. He’s explained some things to me and I’ll leave it at that.”

You can’t blame Allen for playing his cards close to his chest—with such a tenuous situation that holds large ramifications, leaking the wrong thing to the media could be detrimental. What is encouraging is that it seems Allen and the rest of the front office are aware of the issues at hand.

It’s up to you to determine whether they will be able to fix it or not.
