Browns re-sign CB Phillip Gaines

The Browns have re-signed cornerback Phillip Gaines, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Gaines played in four games last season for the Browns, recording nine tackles in those games.

He is a familiar face for Browns general manager John Dorsey, who drafted Gaines in Kansas City in 2014 with the No. 87 pick out of Rice. He’s bounced around quite a bit. Gaines signed with the Bills last season, before being cut and coming to Cleveland on waivers.

The Browns are a team needing depth in the cornerback room, and Gaines was signed for just that reason.
