Browns place DT Daniel Ekuale on injured reserve, promote TE Stephen Carlson

Daniel Ekuale’s season is over. The Cleveland Browns placed the second-year defensive tackle on injured reserve on Friday with a calf injury.

Ekuale was injured in the Browns’ Week 8 loss to the Patriots. He had been a regular part of the DT rotation, getting between 10 and 20 plays per week. His season finishes with four tackles, including a tackle for loss.

To take Ekuale’s place on the roster, the Browns promoted tight end Stephen Carlson from the practice squad. Carlson is an undrafted rookie from Princeton who played extensively in the preseason. He has spent the entire season on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster following preseason.
