Browns hoping to wear the color rush jerseys more often in 2019

For several years the Cleveland Browns have mixed and match several different sets of jerseys and pants on gamedays. There are scads of combinations of white and orange and brown between the two, and it’s led to a bit of an identity crisis.

So when the Browns unveiled the brown Color Rush uniforms with the three orange stripes on the arms, fans rejoiced. The Color Rush jerseys are wildly popular.

Recognizing this, the Browns want to wear them more than is typically allowed. The NFL only permits teams to wear their special uniforms a maximum of three times in a season. However, Browns owner Dee Haslam acknowledged the team has petitioned the NFL to get permission to rock the Color Rush jerseys more than that in 2019.

It’s the final year of the current uniform set. Haslam herself is overseeing the redesign. She sounded hopeful to get approval for the bonus Color Rush usage at the owners’ address with the media on Sunday.

“We are really excited,” Haslam said. “Hopefully that will work out. It is a pretty good uniform. I think the players would be excited to wear it if it works out.”

The team hopes to find out an answer to its request soon.

Here’s a thought: base the new uniforms on the Color Rush style. And ditch the “Browns” down the pant leg…
