Browns DE Myles Garrett is NFL’s highest-graded defensive player in Week 14

While it did not show up in the box score against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Cleveland Browns are still getting a constant and unblockable effort from their Defensive Player of the Year candidate in defense end Myles Garrett.

For his Week 14 effort in the win over Jacksonville, PFF graded Garrett out as the highest-graded defender in all of football last weekend.

Despite only recording a sack on the two-point attempt by the Jaguars, Garrett provided a heavy presence all game. He was charted with a massive seven pressures on the day against the Jaguars, and only Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders and Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers had more with eight. He was also charted with a pass rush win rate of over 30 percent.

Ultimately, however, defense line pass rush (especially off of the edge) can be neutralized by a quarterback who knows how to navigate the pocket and deliver the ball on time. Over the last two weeks, the Browns have seen two quarterbacks who rank in the top-10 in Time to Throw, as Lawrence and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams are almost surgical from the pocket.

This week, however, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields ranks dead last in Time to Throw. Expect to see the efforts displayed on the field reflected in the box score this week.
