Brothers who attacked two customers at petrol station with knuckle duster jailed

Two brothers who violently assaulted two customers at a petrol station with a knuckle duster have been jailed for three years.

Joseph Brown was with his brother Thomas Brown when the pair attacked the two people in Greenford, west London, on November 20 last year.

Both victims were buying goods in the shop when Joseph, 27, briefly spoke to the cashier. As he walked away, he was seen calmly taking a knuckleduster out of his pocket.

Joseph hit one of the men over the head with the weapon while his brother joined in, assaulting both victims.

Both men were rushed to hospital in an ambulance, needing treatment for serious facial injuries.

One of the victims, in his 40s, underwent facial reconstruction surgery.

The brothers fled the scene but they were later identified following a media appeal in January.

The pair were arrested on February 3.

Detective Constable Eliza Nosarzewska, Investigating officer from West Area CID, said the incident was a “brutal attack which inflicted serious injury on the victims”.

“One victim sustained a fractured cheekbone, nose, eye socket and jaw,” she added.

“This conviction shows we are committed to ensuring those responsible for violence on the streets of London are brought to justice for their actions,' she added.

Joseph and Thomas Brown, of Southall, both admitted causing GBH and ABH at Isleworth Crown Court.

Joseph was jailed for three years while Thomas received five months imprisonment.
