Bros stars Matt and Luke Goss explain their best documentary one-liners on ITV Good Morning Britain

The Bros documentary was the 2018 gift that kept on giving.

And part of what made it must-see TV was the bizarre and hilarious one-liners delivered by brothers Matt and Luke Goss.

“I made a conscious decision, because of Stevie Wonder, to not be superstitious.”

“Can I play conkers in England?”

“Rome wasn’t built in a day, that’s true, but we don’t have the time that Rome had.”

They are merely snippets of what helped turn the surprise hit into something more than just another behind the scenes film about a band on tour.

It was so groundbreaking that Bros: After the Screaming Stops is up for three TV Baftas in this weekend’s ceremony.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain , the brothers explained their best quotes to hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Sheppard, admitting that they do see the funny side.

We could get a second Bros documentary as Matt and Luke Goss announce album plans

Matt: “We were edited so the Stevie Wonder quote, I can see how funny it is, but the reality is Stevie Wonder was the literature of my childhood. And we were crippled by superstition.

“‘You believe in things that you don't understand’ - I still believe I don’t want to live in a place of fear, but I do see the comedic side of it.

“I understood the value of that edit.”

Matt and Luke decided to surrender the edit of the 98-minute film so that it wasn’t a promotional release.

Luke: “When you’re speaking for eight months and a third of the answer is included, you have to live with it.

“Matt and I watched the film in Los Angeles and we looked at it and said, we have a great film here.”

Addressing the Rome quote, he added: "One of the managers said to me that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and I said, 'dude, we’ve got two weeks'. So it was a summary of that point.”

The British Academy Television Awards will take place on Sunday, May 12 and will be broadcast on the night of the ceremony on BBC1 from 8pm.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
