Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans rejoice as Netflix confirm season 7 will land soon

Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are rejoicing after Netflix confirmed that season 7 of the hit detective show will be landing on the platform later in the spring.

The hilarious comedy, starring Andy Samberg, Terry Crews and Andre Braugher among others, has had seasons 1-6 available on Netflix for a while.

Fans had been calling out for season seven of the show to be added - and now they have their wish.

The official Netflix UK & Ireland account tweeted:

''The best day of the year is when we can *actually* give you an answer when you ask where the next season of B99 is. Today is that day.

''Brooklyn Nine-Nine S7 comes to Netflix UK/IE on 26 March.''

Many viewers were quick to tweet out their happiness at the news.

''GLORY. A thought to get us through lockdown.'' one said.

''2021 just got a little bit better Smiling face with smiling eyes love a bit of B99 as it’s always guaranteed to make us laugh and that’s much needed during lockdown!!'' added another.

Season eight of the show was originally set to be aired at the end of last year.

However, it was pushed back as a result of the coronavirus.

Before that, the entire script for the first four episodes had to be rewritten in the wake of the George Floyd murder.

George, 46, was an unarmed black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes as he told them, "I can't breathe".

At the time Stephanie Beatriz, who plays straight-faced Detective Rosa Diaz on the NBC show, donated thousands to the Bail Fund Network.

"I'm an actor who plays a detective on TV," she wrote on social media.

"If you currently play a cop? If you make tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in residuals from playing a cop? I'll let you do the math. (Thanks @GriffLightning for leading the way)."
