Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders expected to start against 49ers

He’s back, well ahead of schedule!

Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is expected to start against the 49ers in Week 2 of NFL preseason on Monday evening. Sanders tore his Achilles last December and there was initial fear that he might not return in time for the team’s 2019 regular season opener.

Sanders recovered quickly, though, and he’ll be back on the field against San Francisco.

“Glory to God.. I made it thru my storm and test now tonight I take the field with my teammates again,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. “I’m back stronger and better. Thank you @uchealth for doing such an amazing job on my surgeries. You guys are the best in the world in my opinion. #Letsgo”

Sanders, 32, is a two-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl champion. He caught 71 passes for 868 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games last season. Sanders also threw a touchdown pass and rushed for a score in 2018. He is scheduled to become a free agent in 2020.
