Broncos’ Will Parks posts perfect tweet about safeties signing big contracts

The safety market has seen defensive backs underappreciated and arguably underpaid by NFL teams over the last few years. That may be changing.

Landon Collins intends to sign a six-year, $84 million contract with the Redskins and Tyrann Mathieu plans to sign a three-year, $42 million contract with the Chiefs. NFL teams may finally be willing to pay safeties big money again and Broncos defensive back Will Parks has noticed.

Denver released Darian Stewart last week so Parks will be in contention to start across from Justin Simmons in the Broncos’ secondary this season. Denver does plan to sign Kareem Jackson but it’s unclear if he will play primarily as a cornerback or as a safety.

If the Broncos play Jackson has a corner, Parks will likely have a legitimate shot of winning a starting job this summer. Parks appears to be motivated to not only win a starting job but to also perform well enough to earn a big contract when he hits free agency in 2020.
