EA Sports needs to change this.
Madden, the NFL’s popular video game, doesn’t include the long snapper position but they do include long snappers — listed as tight ends.
Consequently, every long snapper in the game has terrible ratings, including the Pro Bowl specialists like the Broncos’ Casey Kreiter. Here’s a look at the worst-rated players in this year’s version of the game:
Those players are all listed as TEs but they’re all long snappers. A simple fix would be to add long snappers to the game and then give them ratings based on their snaps, blocking and special teams tackling.
Projections suggest EA Sports sells more than five million copies of ‘Madden’ each year. The basic version of the game cost $60. Not even counting the more expensive versions, that would be $300,000,000 worth of sales.
Perhaps some of that money should go toward working on adding a long snapper position — it can’t be that hard to do.
