Broncos sign LB Keishawn Bierria, fill 53-man roster

The Denver Broncos submitted a 52-man roster to the NFL on Saturday afternoon. It certainly wasn’t a finalized roster.

On Sunday, Denver claimed four players off waivers: QB Brandon Allen, KR/PR Diontae Spencer, TE/FB Andrew Beck and OL Corey Levin. The Broncos only had one open roster spot, though, so the team cut LB Josh Watson, WR River Cracraft and OL Jake Rodgers.

That brought the team’s roster total to 53 players but general manager John Elway still wasn’t done making moves. Elway placed QB Drew Lock (thumb) TE Jake Butt (knee) and RB Theo Riddick (shoulder) on injured reserve, creating three more openings on the roster.

Two of those open roster spots went to LB Corey Nelson and CB Davontae Harris. The third spot will go to LB Keishawn Bierria, who didn’t make the intial roster submitted Saturday but will be re-signed Monday.

After signing Bierria, Denver has a full 53-man roster. The Broncos are still working on building a 10-man practice squad.
