Broncos sign CB Rashard Causey

The Denver Broncos have signed cornerback Rashard Causey, the team announced Sunday. To make room for Causey on the 90-man offseason roster, the Broncos waived outside linebacker Jeff Holland.

Causey (6-0, 195 pounds) entered the league as a college free agent out of Central Florida with the Atlanta Falcons following April’s draft. He played against the Broncos in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 1 and was then cut the next day.

Causey will face tough competition at cornerback for a spot on the 53-man roster. Denver already has Chris Harris, Bryce Callahan, De’Vante Bausby, Isaac Yiadom, Linden Stephens, Horace Richardson, Trey Johnson and Alijah Holder at cornerback.

Causey may be competing for a spot on the team’s 10-man practice squad, which will be announced in early September.

During his time with the Knights, Causey totaled 64 tackles, two sacks, seven passes breakups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. The 22-year-old cornerback will wear jersey No. 1.
