Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay reveals keys to victory against Raiders

The Broncos are preparing to face the Raiders in Week 1 of the NFL season in a “Monday Night Football” doubleheader on ESPN. After practice Monday, running back Phillip Lindsay revealed keys to victory.

In short, Denver needs to protect the football and create big plays.

“One, you can’t make mistakes,” Lindsay said. “That’s big. Crowd noise [and] everything — you’ve got to stay tuned in and you’ve got to make big plays. You’ve got to hold on to the football [and the] defense has to get some turnovers and that’s how you win games on the road.”

The Broncos are considered 1.5-point underdogs for Monday’s game in Oakland but a win could go a long way toward starting off the season on a strong note. Denver would want to win regardless of who the opponent is but going up against an AFC West rival adds more intensity to the matchup.

“It is a big game,” Lindsay said. “Monday night and the tradition between the Broncos and the Raiders has always been big. It’s going to be pumping. Now we’ve just got to go out there and execute.”

Lindsay gained 1,278 yards from scrimmage last season and scored 10 touchdowns. He’ll look to improve on those totals in 2019.
