Broncos honored Pat Bowlen and Champ Bailey at halftime of Titans game

The Denver Broncos honored late owner Pat Bowlen and retired cornerback Champ Bailey at halftime of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Bailey and members of Bowlen’s family received Pro Football Hall of Fame rings and Bailey was added to the team’s Ring of Fame.

“He’s a legend,” linebacker Von Miller said of Bailey before practice Thursday. “On and off the football field, he’s taught me a lot. I still talk to him to this day, whether it’s football or off the field or business. He always has great advice for you and it’s going to be dope to see him in the Ring of Fame.

“I remember when I first came in, you see all the names in the Ring of Fame and you have dreams of getting up there one day. To see a guy that I played with actually become part of the Ring of Fame is pretty cool.”

Bowlen left a lasting impact on players that spent time in Denver, including Titans linebacker Wesley Woodyard, who played for the Broncos from 2008-2013.

“Mr. Bowlen was a class act,” Woodyard said last week. “You know, from [being] a guy who did things the right way — in the locker room [and] outside the locker room. He was a pioneer for getting business deals for the NFL. Just a guy that — if I one day was able to stumble across a couple billion and owned a football team — he would be a guy who I try to model myself after.”

Denver defeated Tennessee 16-0, securing their second win of the season.
