Broncos cut WR Jimmy Williams

The Denver Broncos have waived first-year wide receiver Jimmy Williams, according to Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk.com.

Williams (5-11, 198 pounds) joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina last year. After he mysteriously did not report to training camp, the team placed him on their reserve/did not report list.

By placing him on the DNR list, the Broncos did not have to use a roster spot for Williams but the team retained his NFL rights. After being waived, Williams is now a free agent on the open market.

It’s unclear why Williams did not report to camp last summer but it may have been a sign that he’s walking away from football.

During his time with the Pirates, Williams hauled in 119 receptions for 1,722 yards and 14 touchdowns. He likely would have competed for a practice squad spot had he reported to camp with Denver in 2018.

Williams is 24 years old.
